“You're Not Right for Us” or Not Suitable for Work is a modern comedy about five ambitious young people in Manhattan who are used to living as if career is their only religion, and personal happiness can be postponed until later. They want success, recognition, money and status, but quickly realize that an adult job does not always mean an adult life, sometimes it just turns you into a person who is always tired and is still afraid of being a nobody. The series is funny because the characters constantly find themselves in situations where corporate rules collide with real feelings, what looks like a strength in a resume turns into a problem in a relationship. There is a lot of friendship and internal competition, because in the same office it is easy to be friends until a promotion or public disgrace appears. “You're Not Right for Us” works as a romantic comedy and as a coming-of-age story, the characters learn to negotiate, admit mistakes, not hide behind irony and build connections that do not depend on position. The show's message is that work can be important, but it doesn't replace intimacy, and success doesn't cure loneliness. This is a light and cheerful viewing with recognizable dialogues and that same feeling when you laugh because you recognize yourself.
